This explains what Before collects, why, and what you can do about it. In short: we use your CV to build your list and messages, we keep what's needed to run the app, and we never sell your data or share it with employers.
Who we are
Before (getinbefore.com) is a job search app based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. You can reach us through our support page.
What we collect
- Your CV and answers. The text of the CV you upload or paste, and your answers to Before's questions.
- Your list and tracker. The companies you keep or skip, the messages Before writes, and the steps you tick off.
- Your email address, which you use to sign in, get the morning email (unless you turn it off) or join the waitlist.
- Your subscription status, if you subscribe in the iPhone app: which plan you have and when it renews or ends. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card details.
- A device token, if you allow notifications in the iPhone app.
- Basic technical data such as server logs, kept by our hosting provider to run and secure the service.
How we use it
- To build your company list, match news and jobs to you, and write your messages.
- To keep your list in sync across your devices.
- To send the emails and notifications you've asked for.
- To improve Before using anonymised results, such as which kinds of companies reply and how fast. Your name, CV and messages are never part of this.
Who processes it for us
- Anthropic (Claude) reads your CV and answers to build your list and messages.
- Netlify hosts the website and app and stores your list and waitlist entries.
- Resend sends the morning email, if you turn it on.
- Apple delivers notifications in the iPhone app, if you allow them, and takes payment for subscriptions.
- RevenueCat manages App Store subscriptions for us, so your plan works on the iPhone app and the web. It receives an account ID and your purchase records, not your CV or messages.
These providers handle data only to provide their service to us. We don't sell your data, and we never share your CV or details with employers or recruiters.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you use Before. If you get Before through your MECA membership and leave MECA, your access stops straight away and we delete your account and data 5 days later, unless you rejoin within those 5 days. If you ask us to delete it, or you stop using Before for 12 months, we delete your CV, list and tracker. Waitlist emails are deleted once we've sent the launch email, unless you sign up.
Your choices
- Turn the morning email off from the Me tab or with the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Turn notifications off in your iPhone settings.
- Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion through our support page.
Changes
If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and, for anything significant, tell you in the app first.
